Perinatal Dietary Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Brain Development, Role in Neurodevelopmental Disorders

چکیده

n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are essential that provided by dietary intake. Growing evidence suggests PUFAs paramount for brain functions. They constitute crucial elements of cellular membranes, especially in the brain. precursors several metabolites with different effects on inflammation neuron outgrowth. Overall, long-chain accumulate offspring during embryonic post-natal periods. In this review, we discuss how they developing brain, considering maternal supply, polymorphisms genes involved their metabolism, differences linked to gender. We also report mechanisms linking bioavailability transfer from mother embryo through placenta, role development. addition, data potential altered etiologies neurodevelopmental diseases, such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, reviewed.

Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids, brain function and mental health

The importance of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids for our health and our economy is immense. The present paper is a quick guide to this topic, which is highly complex and full of conflicts. One aspect is highlighted, namely the relationship between these substances and our mental health. Relevant chemical and physical properties of polyunsaturated fatty acids are briefly presented. The ques...

Effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion in lactating dairy cows

As lactating cows in severe negative energy balance have poor reproductive performance, the effect of dietary fat supplementation (fish oil, soybean oil) on PGFM secretion, ovarian function and blood metabolites is investigated. In this experiment, the effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma metabolites, ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion of 20 primiparous Holstein co...

O-11: Diverse Effects of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids on Oocyte Maturation and Development In vitro

Background: Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been shown to influence fertility and endocrinology of reproduction and metabolic activity in many species. In dairy cows, we and others have shown changes in steroid and metabolic hormones and prostaglandins leading to alteration of ovarian activity and uterine function. These can influence fertility by changes in folliculogenesis cyclicity ...

Metabolic Effects of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Chickens: A Review

Chicken has been used as a suitable model for lipid metabolism studies, because dietary modifications especially dietary fat type can change chicken body composition. Fats act as a condense source of energy and certain fatty acids such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are required for both animal and human health. The n-3 PUFAs, especially, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic ...

The Role of MeCP2 in Brain Development and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Methyl CpG binding protein-2 (MeCP2) is an essential epigenetic regulator in human brain development. Rett syndrome, the primary disorder caused by mutations in the X-linked MECP2 gene, is characterized by a period of cognitive decline and development of hand stereotypies and seizures following an apparently normal early infancy. In addition, MECP2 mutations and duplications are observed in a s...
